First Look or No First Look?

The Benefits of Having a First Look at your Wedding

The first look is a new concept in the wedding industry and many couples are unsure about foregoing the tradition of seeing each other for the first time when they walk down the aisle. However, there are quite a few benefits to planning a first look into your big day!

  1. MORE PORTRAITS

Something I see a lot on the wedding day is couples wanting LOTS of beautiful Family, Bridal Party, and Couple portraits, but also do not want to keep their guests waiting for too long after the ceremony. It typically takes about an hour and a half to complete all of these portraits after the ceremony and that can still be a bit rushed. You’re investing a lot into your wedding photography. With a first look, you can prioritize your portraits and not feel rushed after the ceremony!

    2. ENJOY THE MOMENT

You actually get to have intimate time on your wedding day with your partner. Most brides don’t realize that when you come down the aisle and totally SHOCK him with your gorgeous-ness… he can’t even tell you how amazing you look. He can’t touch you, embrace you or even SPEAK to you. You have to wait until 30 minutes later when the ceremony is over for him to react and tell you how amazing you look. That moment will forever remain between the two of you.

    3. YOUR ONLY TIME ALONE

Couples rarely get any time alone on their wedding days, believe it or not! This time allows you two more alone time on your wedding day! Not only do you have the first look time, but you can also spend time together during the “hiding period” before the ceremony.

    4. DIMINISHED NERVES

First looks can play a huge part in getting rid of your nerves! With 1/2 of my couples who have decided to do a first look, the grooms were not fans of it at first. However, because they have never experienced their wedding day before, they didn’t know how nerve racking it can be. I have testimonials from grooms who initially DID NOT want to do a first look, but afterwards admitted to being SO much more relaxed and ready for the ceremony!

Whatever you choose for your big day, talk to your planner about allowing plenty of time for portraits, some alone time, and don’t forget to stop and enjoy the moment! <3
