So you just got engaged, and your photographer shopping.

All the packages, all the options, do I need 8 hours? 6 hours? 12 hours?! What style of photography do we want hanging on our walls for 20+ years? Do we need a team or just one photographer? And what about engagements? Do we need them?!

WHEW. Overwhelming…amiright?!

Well lets knock out one of those questions now shall we? “Do I need engagements?” The answer is
ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY YES!!!
And here’s our top 5 reasons why:

1. You get comfortable with your photographers!
   Probably THE most important reason of all if I’m being honest. You are going to spend 8-12 hours with your photographer on your wedding day trusting them to capture intimate and personal moments. You absolutely need to feel comfortable with them! An engagement session is a way we connect with our couples through a much more relaxed situation. We get to laugh with you, explore with you, and have real conversations while we photograph you which we LOVE! We get to know you, and you get to know us!

2. Posing practice!
Your wedding day will be jam packed and busy busy busy. The less time we spend teaching you poses, the more time we have to do some fun, creative stuff! We spend the first little bit of your engagement session moving through our “core poses” so on your wedding day, you already have an idea of where we will start. We move you and slightly change your positioning, but it gives us an incredible base to work off of! This also gives you such a valuable opportunity to get comfortable with a camera all up in your business!

3. IT’S FUN!!
It’s such a good excuse to take a break from wedding planning! Get all dolled up and make it into a little date night too! If there is one thing adults don’t do enough, it’s have fun. So let’s pick a place that means alot to you! Downtown Dallas maybe, a coffee shop, etc. Whatever it is- let’s make sure you have FUN!

4. Worried about how you look in photos? Let’s fix that!
Often times, brides will email us and tell us they’re anxious about the way they will look in photos. Typically, they are pulling insecurities from iphone photos that friends or family members have taken. Not professional photographers! So when they get their engagement photos back, all the anxiety is alleviated! This gives you piece of mind that you will look absolutely incredible in your wedding photos.
And in the rare case where you find an angle you don’t love in your engagement photos, you can let us know and we will take note that you don’t like XYZ and we will pose you accordingly on the wedding day!

5. You’ll want to remember this season of your life- I promise!
You will look back at your engagements in 5 years and think “GOSH we were babies! How sweet we were!” You’ll remember the wedding planning, the sleepless nights spent choosing vendors, the wedding cake tastings, all the things. It’s such a sweet time to remember!
