What is the
Best Month to Get Married
In Texas?
If you’ve lived in Texas for any period of time, you know that the weather is well, unpredictable. However, there are several months in Texas that you have a far better chance of having that gorgeous weather you’ve always dreamed of for your wedding day. If you’re here, I assume you or someone you know is newly engaged! First let me say, congratulations! Wedding planning is so much fun! If you haven’t yet picked a date, I hope this article will help you choose the perfect month for your big day.
So what month is the BEST month to get married in 2022? Let’s take a look at the seasons.
Spring Weddings
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. The green has started to return to the grass and trees. The weather is temperate, and the flowers have begun to bloom. For instance in the photo above, the roses had just started blooming at Chandler’s Gardens and it was the perfect backdrop. Though we get the occasional snowstorm in March and thunderstorms in April, for the most part the weather is perfect for weddings. The optimal months to have a spring wedding would be mid-March through May. I’d avoid early March since we do still get the occasional chilly weather. Due to the higher chances of rain, I recommend choosing a venue with indoor and outdoor ceremony options.
Summer Weddings
We all know summers in Texas can be brutal. It’s not unlikely for Texas to reach over 100 degrees some parts of the year. However, in the North Texas area we seem to have very pleasant weather from May to early July. So though a summer wedding may not seem optimal, I’ve seen some of the most pleasant wedding weather in June. The rainy season is over, there are often still some cooler days, and everything is green! The key here is avoid late July through early September. That is when temperatures begin to rise, and we don’t want to sweat off all that beautiful makeup! Choosing a venue like Thistle Hill Estate during summer months is a great idea because you can have your ceremony inside and then pop outside for your portraits.
Fall Weddings
Fall is the most popular wedding season. It isn’t uncommon for me to be booked solid every weekend in October. Though the weather is lovely, this may mean fewer dates are available for your big day, so make sure you get started early if you want a fall wedding. Here in Texas, “fall weather” can begin in late September and last all the way through December. For the most part we see beautiful weather all the way through New Year’s. There is always still the chance of rain, especially in October. So choosing a venue like Magnolia Grace Ranch with both indoor and outdoor ceremony options is a great idea.
Winter Weddings
This can truly be a beautiful season for weddings, but unfortunately here in Texas, winter weddings just mean that you’ll have a chance that it’s going to be very cold. We don’t get a lot of snow, but ice and treacherous weather is always a possibility, especially in February. If you have your heart set on a winter wedding, make sure you choose a venue with that has an indoor ceremony option to keep you and your guests warm. Often the weather end up being nice enough to pop outside for portraits.
SO, WHEN IS THE BEST MONTH TO GET MARRIED?
There is not one month that is perfect, especially when it comes to marrying your best friend, however May and October seem to be very popular months due to beautiful weather we have here in Texas during that time. If you want to cut down on competition for specific dates, I recommend looking into the month of June and November. With that being said, here in Texas, most months of the year can be very pleasant with the exception of August. I’d avoid these months and surrounding dates altogether. When you choose your wedding season, I hope you’ll keep this article in mind when choosing what month you plan to get married in. Having pleasant temperatures is an important aspect to having a stress-free wedding day. Of course, we can’t control the weather, so having backup plans for rain, hot, and cold weather is always a must. I highly recommend choosing a venue that offers both indoor and outdoor ceremony options so that if you need to pivot last minute, you can.
